What does one mean by exothermic and endothermic reaction? Give example

Exothermic reaction: Reaction in which heat energy is liberated by the reactants.

Eg: Carbon + Oxygen = Carbon Dioxide

Endothermic reaction: Reaction in which heat energy is absorbed by the reactants.

Eg: Nitrogen + Oxygen = Nitric oxide
