-Exothermic reactions are reactions in which energy in the form of heat is released from the reaction. Examples of exothermic reactions include combustion reactions like:

CH4 + 2O2 ---------> CO2 + 2H2O + HEAT

-Endothermic reactions reactions in which energy in the form of heat is absorbed by the reaction. Example includes photosynthesis where light energy is absorbed, melting of ice cube and evaporation of water.

A chemical reaction in which heat energy is released is called exothermic reaction.
Example:
1.when calcium oxide is mixed with water we get calcium hydroxide and lot heat energy.
CaO+ H₂O---> Ca(OH)2 +Q
here Q indicates heat energy is released.
2.all combustion reactions like burning of wood, candle,carbon etc

while endothermic processes cause an absorption of heat, which results in a drop of temperatures in the surrounding regions.

1.when a small quantity of ammonium chloride (NH4Cl) is dissolved in water in a test tube, the tube becomes colder than before. During this chemical reaction heat is absorbed from the surroundings (test tube).
NH4Cl(s) + H2O(l) -----------> NH4Cl(aq) - heat
2.Photosynthesis,In this process, chlorophyll in green plants converts carbon dioxide and water into glucose and oxygen. Energy is provided by the energy of sunlight,
