Sciatic nerve is a branch of sacral plexus. Sometimes , the sciatic nerve gets compressed in between the posterior sacral foramina leading to pain .

The pain passes along the back of the lower part of trunk to the gluteal region down to the posterior thighs .

It is mainly caused by herniating structures pressing (compressing) the sciatic nerve.

The pain is experienced as sharp excruciating pain , and some patients may experience numbness and parathesia in the corresponding leg and feet.

The major risk factors for Sciatica are:

1. Obesity

2. Older age

3. Occupational disorder

4. Diabetes

The prevention is as follows:

1. Perform Exercise regularly and keep the spine strong.

2. Maintain posture while sitting for a long time.
