Shylock wants to take revenge from Antonio because Antonio use to abuse him at public places and he use to spit at him and Shylock was jealous with him because he use to lend money without interest and thus spoiling his business in the sense so he wanted yo take revenge from Antonio snd he gets this opportunity when Bassanio needs money and Antonio was unable to raise that amount of money so Bassanio asks Shylock for money and he lend the money to Bassanio and asked Antonio to sign a treaty according to which if he fails in giving back the money to Shylock on time, he have to give a pound of flesh from his body from any body part which Shylock desires and this way he wanted to take revenge from Antonio.
