: A map is a diagrammatic representation of a large area. It also represents the three dimensional object in a two dimensional paper.

❑ As We know that, Maps are drawings which provide an entire world in a paper. Generally ,there are six types of maps. They are Reference maps, Cadastral maps, Thematic maps , Topographic maps, navigation maps , series maps.
Several types of surveys are used for creating maps. Plain table survey is used for preparing maps for plain lands. Compass surveying is used to prepare maps for both land and water bodies.
There are three major components of a map which includes direction , distance, symbol. Exact drawings of an object cannot be made in a map , so symbols are used in maps. These symbols represent the object in the map and their explanation will be provided at the bottom right side of the map. Maps have an arrowed mark with the letter 'N' at the top right side of the map to indicate the direction. It helps to find other seven directions.
