In the poem Childhood by Markus Natten, the poet feels hypocrisy of the grown-ups could be one reason behind the loss of his childhood. As he grew up he realized the adults, more often than not never did what they said. They talked of love and preached love, but never ever acted lovingly. He termed this behavior as hypocrisy.

As a person ages, he becomes a rationalist, an individualist.

He accepts thing that is only logical.

He tend to lose faith in God. He does not believe in the concept of Hell or Heaven.

He becomes too self-conscious and he chases his material benefits and gradually becomes an egoist.

In short, he loses all his innocence of his childhood and becomes a hypocrite.
