During the long and hard winter months the Scarecrow must bear the driving rain,the battering of the bitter cold winter north wind and the incessant snow fall. The cold freezes the Scarecrow just as it freezes anything else around it . But the north wind blows the snow away too leaving it black and bare. He is left so stiff that he cannot move . The sun must rise and melt the snow first.
