Verrier Elwin had an important message which he tried to propagate among the tribes of India, including the hill people of Assam. Known popularly as the ‘Message of Ghotul (a traditional hut of the Gond tribe)’, it is a message of freedom and happiness, to be treasured above all material gains. Friendship, sympathy, hospitality, unity and above all, love – is beautiful, clean and precious. These qualities are typically Indian.

Verrier Elwin (1902 – 1964) was an anthropologist who worked for the upliftment of the different tribes in India.
