Loser’s excuse
Vote bank (by caste) is an excuse used by losing parties in Indian democracy. Often elitist political pundits, arm-chair critics who don’t have any connect with the masses, surprised by the success of the leaders who they despise, use this as an excuse for their misreading of the electorate.
It is a secret ballot. There is no reason to believe any caste voted one way or the other entirely. It is reasonable to assume there were cross votes, party votes, religious, loyalty, consolidation etc. There are many motivation for the voter.
