Lord Curzon saw India's growing nationalism to be a threat to the british rule. Hence to suppress the rise in nationalism he decides bengal to be partitioned. The announcement of the partition was done on 20th July 1905 and the effect came on 16th October 1905. But Lord Curzon justifies by saying that the partition of Bengal is required for administrative necessities. Bengal is such a huge province that it is difficult to be administered efficiently by a single provincial government. Hence he tells that this was the reason for his decision.

Answer:

Firstly, the area of Bengal was too large and it was difficult for the British to administer efficiently, so Lord Curzon stated that the partition of Bengal was necessary for administrative efficiency. -Secondly, to divide Bengalis into religious and territorial grounds to weaken the growing nationalism in Bengal.
