Bhadur shah zafar was the last mughal emperor.
Bhadur Shah zafar became the leader of the revolt of 1857.This had a positive effect on the rebellion. Bhadur shah zafar wrote letters to all the chief and rulers of the country to join the revolt and get united to fight against the British. The small rulers and chieftain developed hope that now they would be able to rule over their territories once again by defeating the British. The Indian people became very confident and energetic. They were filled with the hope that the revolt would became successful and the British would be thrown out leading to freedom of people from exploitation and unjust rule of British government.
The British didn't like this. when Delhi was recaptured, Bhadur shah zafar was tried in court and given punishment of life imprisonment. He and his wife Begum Zinnat Mahal were sent to prison in Rangoon. Bhadur Shah zafar died in the Rangoon jail in 1862.
