First is, selecting the dam site. It has to be free of natural calamities. It has to withstand the force of water if there is heavy rainfall. It should not be prone to earthquake. The surrounding area too, should not be prone to earthquake.
Relocation and Job opportunities for the people: When selecting a dam site, the engineers should see not many families are affected by this project because leaving their roots will be a painful process. Their employment also should be taken care of.
The last but not the least, cutting of trees and natural environment should be taken care of.
