The removal and transport of the top layer of soil from its native position to another position under the effect of strong winds and fast running rainwater is known as soil erosion. The top layer of the soil is very fertile. It gives anchorage to plants which is a source of water and nutrients to the plants. However, it is mainly caused due to improper farming, harmful human activities, storms, strong winds, floods, etc.
