The rae of any chemical reaction depends on the following factors:

1. Temperature- Temperature plays an important factor in any chemical reaction. Generally, the rate of a chemical reaction doubles every 10 degrees Kelvin rise in temperature.

2. Surface area-The rate of reaction of a solid substance is dependent on the surface area. In a reaction between a solid and an aqueous/liquid/gas species(atoms/ions/molecules), increasing the surface area of the solid-phase reactant increases the number of collisions per second leading to increase the reaction rate.

3. Concentration- Increasing the concentration of a reactant increases the number of effective collisions between the reacting species (atoms/ions/molecules) per second and therefore increases the rate of reaction.

4. Nature of Reactants- It depends wheather the reacting species are in solid, liquid or gaseous phase.
