African dwarf frogs (also known as Congo frogs, dwarf African clawed frogs, and ADF's for short) are small, completely aquatic frogs that are members of the Pipidae family. They breathe by occasionally swimming up to the surface for a gulp of air. They are, as their name suggests, native to Africa, thus they are tropical animals that require a heater in their aquariums. These frogs are social and should be kept in groups of at least two.

Guppies are peaceful community fish that are compatible with african dwarf frogs. Mystery snails are another great choice for a frog tank. Betta fish can be kept with ADF's as long as there is no aggression between them. Corydoras catfish are lively yet gentle additions to a dwarf frog tank.
