Why can snakes live so far away from water and frogs can' t?

Snake is a reptile while frog is a amphibian.Frogs spend most of their larval stage in water and adulthood outside water.but they have to come back to the water to lay eggs.They can breathe in water for a long time.Snakes cannot breath in water and if they do they use the oxygen they absorbed from the land.Snake lays eggs on land.it can stay for about an hour in water before coming back to the surface.
