In hydroelectric power plant..
the potential energy of (the stored) water is converted into kinetic energy as it falls down. The kinetic energy of the falling water is converted into mechanical energy of the turbine blades which converted this mechanical energy into electrical energy in the alternator which is connected to a generator.
This is how electricity is produced.
