What funny thing happened to the George's father and his friend at the inn called the pig and whistle?

This scene like the majority of other scenes in the novel is quite humorous. This scene tells us not only George and Harris were funny and eccentric, but their fathers were also many times funnier than them.
When the three friends had settled comfortably after putting up a camp at Picnic Point, George narrated a very funny tale of his father to Jim and Harris. George told them that once his father was travelling with another fellow through Wales, and, one night, they stopped at a little inn, where there were some other fellows, and they joined the other fellows, and spent the evening with them. They had a very jolly evening, and sat up late.
After drinking and having a lot of fun they went back to their room to sleep. They took the candle, and went up. The candle was blown out before they got into the room, and they had to undress and grope into bed in the dark. This they did; but, instead of getting into separate beds, as they thought they were doing, they both climbed into the same one without knowing it one getting in with his head at the top, and the other crawling in from the opposite side of the compass, and lying with his feet on the pillow.
Both of them were in the same bed with their feet on each other’s pillow. They thought some stranger had crept into their beds; under the influence of alcohol, they decided to throw the suspected stranger out of their beds. Then a struggle ensued ending up in both George’s father and his friend lying on the floor. They both agreed that the strangers who were in their beds were strong and had thrown both of them on the floor. They decided they would never ever stay at the inn (Pig and Whistle) in future.
Harris was quite amazed and curious to hear George’s father’s incident as he told Jim and George that a similar incident had happened to his father too.
