What governs how sound waves travels through a medium? What, specifically, does it mean for sound to be focused, and how would we get sound to behave that way?

Sound waves move from the medium bythe viberation in atoms. It is fastest in solid specially iron and other metal.

It does not pass through vaccum as the particles are not present
