What happen if variation does not occur in organism?

If variation does not occur in an organism then the survival of that organism will not be possible because these variation brought the favourable changes in the organism's body that made them able to survive in the changing environment.
For example if there is a species of a bacteria which lives in a cold environment and suddenly the temperature increased by global warming then that bacteria will die after few time but if there is the new generation of that bacteria which have variation and few of them can survive in the new environment and this will prevent their species from extincting.
