When carbon dioxide is passed through lime water that is calcium hydroxide then calcium carbonate , insoluble white precipate and water is formed.

CO2 + Ca(OH)2---------> Ca(CO)3 + H2O.

when we pass excess carbon dioxide to the solution then milliners will disappear as Calcium bicarbonate will formed which is soluable in water.

Ca(CO)3 + CO2 ---------> CaH(CO)3.
