The compound Nacl when dissolves in the water, it breaks and separates  into Na+ and Cl- atoms.

When common salt is added to water, it vanishes. The reason being that water molecules have voids or inter molecular spaces in which the salt particles get dissolved. The solution so formed is called brine solution.
