What happened? Please explain what happened in this paragraph .

An especially terrible accident happened there in March 1918.A Navy cargo ship called the USS Cyclops sank somewhere between Barbados and the Chesapeake Bay. There were over 300 men onboard. All lost their lives. Strangely, the Cyclops didn't radio for help before going down.
