St.Peter appeared at the old lady’s cottage to get some food as he was hungry and tired. But the old lady was miserly and did not have the heart to part with her food. She kept reducing the size of the piece of cake she intended to give St.Peter.  

As she was selfish, she kept reducing the size. St.Peter got angry and cursed the old lady.  

She turned into a 'woodpecker' with a black body and a red cap and flew out of the chimney into the forest, where she had to bore hard into the hardwood of trees to get her food.  

She had to live the rest of her life with very little food.
