Hey,

When the cardboard was flicked, the cardboard moved upward and outward, but the coin cannot be with it. Since the cardboard removed from underneath, therefore the coin will be dropped into the 'glass'. The coin will not join together with the flicked cardboard because the coin is at rest.

Hope it helps

When the cardboard was flicked, the cardboard moved upward and outward, but the coin cannot be with it.

Explanation:

  • Coin drops into the glass when the carboard is flicked from underneath.
  • Due to inertia, the coin tends to remains at rest and the cardboards is removed.
  • Since the coin still remains at its position, it drops down due to gravitational force acting on it.
  • Also, when the carboard is removed, the normal force that the board was exerting on the coin to prevent it from falling down, disappears and so, it drops down.
