Electrolysis cell for molten sodium chloride: A commercialelectrolysis cell for the production of metallic sodiumand chlorine gas from molten NaCl. Liquid sodium floats to the top of the melt above the cathode and is drained off into a storage tank. Chlorine gas bubbles out of the melt above the anode.Hydrogen is a chemical element with symbol H and atomic number 1. With a standard atomic weight of 1.008, hydrogen is the lightest element on the periodic table.

★ Hey mate ★
here is your answer !!!
when there is electrolysis of molten sodium chloride there is formation of caustic soda or Sodium Hydroxide with the formation of chlorine and hydrogen gas.
following are reaction that so electrolysis of molten sodium chloride :-
NaCl + H20 ====> NaOH + H2 + Cl2
this process is also known Chlor alkali process because there is formation of caustic soda or Sodium Hydroxide which is generally basic in nature.
★ Sodium Hydroxide is also known as " Lye "
★ there is also formation of hydrogen and chlorine gas which is useful in many fields .
★ Hydrogen:-
hydrogen is used for rocket fuel.
hydrogen is also a reducing agent that is mostly used in chemical industries.
★ Clorine :-
chlorine is used for making water clean
it is also used for making carbon tetrachloride .
hope it helps you dear !!!
thanks !!
