Explanation:

Electrolysis of Copper Sulfate. Whenever copper sulfate or CuSO4 is added to water, it gets dissolved in the water. As CuSO4 is an electrolyte, it splits into Cu+ + (cation) and SO4 − − (anion) ions and move freely in the solution. Now we will immerse two copperelectrodes in that solution

Answer:

while doing electrolysis of copper sulphate solution, impure copper from the anode (thick block of impure copper) dissolves and goes into copper sulphate solution, and pure copper from the copper sulphate solution deposits on cathode. Thus, pure copper metal is produced on the cathode. The soluble impurities go into the solution whereas insoluble collect below the anode as anode mud.( we take cathode as a thin strip of pire copper metal and the solution in acidified copper sulphate solution).
