Calcium carbonate is very insoluble inwater so it will precipitate from solution as if forms. So if carbon dioxide gas is bubbled through a clear, colorless solution of lime water, thewater will become hazy and milky colored as the calcium carbonateprecipitates as a white solidsuspended in the water.
