the sodium and chlorine will separate from each other to form their respective ions i.e. sodium will form Na^+ and chlorine will form Cl^-

When electricity is passed through the aquarium solution of sodium chloride then it's ion, s will desociate into Na+ Cl- , after that the positive Name will move towards the terminal of negative and vise versa
