Answer:
Your swallowing reflex is triggered as your tongue pushes the food to the back of your throat. During this phase, your windpipe closes tightly and your breathing stops. This prevents food from going down the wrong pipe. The food enters your esophagus and travels down into your stomach.

Problems associated with entering of food into the trachea:
- Tracheal walls are supported by rings of cartilage which helps in free passage of air.
- The epiglottis prevents the entry of food in the trachea though the glottis
- If food enters into the trachea it reaches the bronchi which ends in lungs.
- So this, causes some inflamation of throat and lung alveoli, decrease in surface area for gas exchange and cause further breathing problems.
- To avoid such problems , you should avoid talking while eating.
- It may also cause immediate death.
