If saliva is not secreted in our mouth then:-

1. Our mouth gets dry so the food which is to enter extremely soft foodpipe is not wetten to get easily pass through it.

2. Saliva contains salivary amylase which converts starch into sugar which is an essential part of digestion. So inabsense of saliva this could not happen.

saliva helps in digesting the food and moisturizing the enzymes which are present in saliva which helps to break down the starch into simple sugar which is very important for digestion and if saliva is not present into the mouth the food will not digest easily and starch will remains in starch not in simple sugar .
