What happens if we drink algae water?
Answers
Some forms of algae create challenges for water systems used by humans and animals by producing toxins that can have unpleasant, and even serious, health effects. Other types of algae are benign, and actually improve water quality.
Contact with affected water can cause skin irritation, mild respiratory effects and hayfever-like symptoms. Ingesting toxins can cause gastroenteritis symptoms, such as vomiting, diarrhoea, fever and headaches.

It's not good for our body functions .
Eutrophication causes growth of a layer of algae on the surface of water, which reduces the level of dissolved oxygen in water.
When other aquatic animals and plants die due to lack of oxygen, their dead remains serve as food for bacteria which further reduces oxygen content in waterbodies.
