When a current is passed through a spring, each turn will have the same current in the same direction. Thus the turns constitute parallel current elements. Therefore all the turns attract each other and hence the spring is compressed.

ANSWERS:

when a current will pass through the spring the magnetic filed will produce since the current pass in same direction in all coil of spring , the magnetic field will have same direction all coils . this causes the spring to reduce its length
