what happens to the area of a rectangle when its Length is doubled the breadth remaining the same

The area increases by twice
Area=l×b
L=2l
b=b
=2l×b
=2(lxb)

Let the length be a units and breadth be b units
Area= a×b=ab-(I)
Now,
Length =2a
New area= 2ab -(ii)
Therefore,
Area/ new area= ab/2ab = 1/2

Hence, the area doubles.
