meristematic cells are those which keep on growing through out their life
their are three types of meristematic tissue
appical- root and shoot tip
lateral- below the bark
intercalvery -at internodes of the stem

in some stages meristematic tissue become permanent tissue
this process in known as differentiation
when they become permanent their cells stop growing

They take up a specific role and lose the ability to divide.

As a result , they form a permanent tissue.

This process of taking up a permanent shape , size , and a function is called Differentiation.
