Hi friend,
The food prepared by the plants in their leaves through photosynthesis (The process of synthesising food with the help of carbon dioxide and water in the presence of chlorophyll and sunlight) is transported to all parts of the plant in the form of a solution, through translocation which takes place through ‘phloem.
Phloem has sieve tubes placed one above the other to form long tubes. It is present along with xylem inside the plant body.
Note:The contents of phloem can move both in the upward and downward direction while water moves only in the upward direction.
I Hope this answer may help you....
