if the object is placed at a distance less than 25 cm,ciliary muscles are unable to adjust the lens there is a strain on the eye and it cannot be seen clearly

there is no change in image distance. to see the nearer or distant object clearly the adjust its focal length (i.e. accommodation)and formed image at retina.
