what happens to the melting point of ice when pressure is increased

Hey there !!

When pressure is increased , melting points gets lowered or decreases.

Ice takes more volume than liquid water.
Hence , it's actually easier to melt it at high pressure and also it requires less heat.

Melting point decreases when the ice pressure is increased.

Explanation:  

  • As the pressure is increased the melting point of ice decreases. This is found by an experiment, using ice cubes.  
  • When two ice cubes are taken together and are pressed against each other, the two ice cubes join. This is because on increase in pressure the ice melts and hence it is converted to water.  
  • When we release the pressure the water again turns back to ice hence the two ice cubes stick against each other.
