What happens to the pepsin reaction between pH 4 and 5 ? Why ?

Pepsin acts on protein and converts them into proteoses and peptones.Pepsin is active at acidic ph and it becomes inaffective and becomes neutral. At ph 4 and 5, it still functions but the activity will be much less as compared to lower ph.
