When dry apricots are left for sometime in pure water, they will swell.
Because, water will enter into them through the process of osmosis.
Later, when these apricots will be transferred to sugar solution, they will again shrink.
(2)This also occurs due to osmosis.
Osmosis is a process where solute moves from higher concentration to lower concentration through a semi-permeable membrane

Ttanu:
is this is the ans of both points
The solute content inside the leaves will come out due to osmosis at first while heating.
Further heating and boiling will destroy the cells.
Cells will be dead.
So, after addition of sugar syrup no more osmosis will take place
