What happens when a gas obtained by the action of dilute H2SO4 on ferrous sulphide is passed through acidified solution of potassium dichromate? ​

Answer: Sulfur dioxide react with potassium dichromate and sulfuric acid

SO2 + K2 Cr2O7  + 3H2 SO4  → K2 SO4  + Cr2 (SO4 )3  + 3H2 O

Sulfur dioxide react with potassium dichromate and sulfuric acid to produce potassium sulfate, chromium(III) sulfate and water and  the solution turns from orange to green.
