Why or why not? When the cell is place inside the hypotonic solution then endosmosis occurs i.e. water enters into the cell, resulting into swelling of the cell. The plant cell doesn't burst as it has cell wall. However an animal cell will burst if placed in the hypotonic solution as it lacks cell wall.
