When a parallel beam of light not parallel to the principal Axis strikes a spherical lens then they appear to meet at the focal plane of the lens.

- this is due to the converging property of the convex lens due to which all the rays of light which are parallel to each other appear at the plane which has the the focus of the lens in it.
- However in case of concave lens it is a diverging lens and the rays of light diverge after refraction in the lens. They appear to meet at the focal point which is on the same side as the object
