  • When acetone react with HCN it gives the nucleophilic addition product know as acetone cyanohydrin.
  • The product have both affinity towards oxidation as well as reduction that depends on reactant used.
  • But in above queation strictly mention that reduction so we are not gone for oxidation and forming of carboxylic acid product so, on reduction of cyanohydrin with reducing agent we get the amine as major product.
