When a bar magnet is placed or kept inside the solenoid, it will no longer function as a magnet.
- When a bar magnet is put in a solenoid driven by an a.c. current with even a second, the bar will no longer function as a magnet until it is removed.
- The magnet will confuse the orientations of its magnetic domains.
- Bringing the bar magnet into the solenoid causes an e.m.f. in the solenoid and a current flows and a magnetic field is produced because the circuit is closed.
