when Cl2 is passed throuh the KI solution then CL replace the I fron KI and make KCl and I2 i.e.,displacement reaction occur here.
and iodine(I2) gas will be evolved...
And iodide gas change the starch solution in blue colour becoz amalyse present in starch due to which when it react with iodide gas it change blue in colour.
