When conc. H2so4 is added to ethanol at 443k . The ethanol gets dehydrated and ethene is formed as a result

Reaction :

CH3 CH2OCH ---(hot conc h2so4 ) --> CH2 =CH2 + H2O

the coc. H2so4 can be said as dehydrating agent as it removes water from ethanol
