- If you are referring to the chemical reaction below, the products are hydrogen gas and and iron(III) chloride.
- Fe + 2HCl ------> FeCl₂ + H₂
- In terms of physical observations, there will be a period of rapid bubbling as the hydrogen gas escapes and a thin layer of iron(III) chloride may form.
- In case of reactive metals like Mg, Al or even Zn, Fe , a corresponding chloride is formed evolving hydrogen in the form of bubbles.
- Now ,I read that copper reacts with HCl in the presence of O2 forming CuCl2 & water though it can't displace H2.
- Cu+2HCl+1/2O2--> CuCl2+H2O
