what happens when KOH alcohic is treated with alkane

Hey Friend,

Process - 
Dehydrohalogenation - involves elimination of hydrogen halide!

C2H5Br is boiled with hot concentrated alcoholic solution.

C2H5Br + KOH (alc.) ---> C2H4 + KBr + H2O
                            
Collection -
By downward displacement of Water.

This Ethene [C2H4] can be then easily converted to alkane by Halogenation of catalytic Hydrogenation.

This is an elimination reaction...
