Methane and chlorine. If a mixture ofmethane and chlorine is exposed to a flame, it explodes - producing carbon and hydrogen chloride. This is not a very useful reaction! ... Actually under the condition of diffused sunlight chlorine reactswith methane to give chloromethane and HCl via radical mechanism.
